OUR APPROACH
Our approach to skin care at ŌDIN is a multifaceted one. Perfect skin requires several key lifestyle factors, topical products as well as daily rituals to be complete.
LIFESTYLE
Your lifestyle is one of the most important parts of your skin care regimen. It is essential that you are treating your body like the temple it is: with respect and dedication. You are the most valuable asset you own. There is no replacing your body, and therefore it should be your number one priority to take care of it. The following tips will help you achieve your skin goals:
- Make sure you are exercising several times a week with cardio to keep your body's blood circulation functioning optimally. Blood circulation is imperative for good skin. Cardiovascular exercise works best for this and results can be seen in a person's skin within just a couple weeks of starting.
- Your lymph is another often neglected body fluid which requires circulation. Investing in a good body brush and brushing toward the heart will help exfoliate and move your lymph to keep it flowing and renewing.
- Drink water! Your body is comprised of mostly water (over 60%) and utilizes it throughout your day for many processes. This water must be replenished and if you are not drinking enough your skin will show it.
- Everything in moderation. Drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and eating sweets may be fun in the short term but it will not aid in your appearance long term. All of these habits cause breakouts and wrinkles so beware of excesses in your life.
- Feed your skin from the inside. Eat a balanced diet filled with vitamins and minerals. Whether you supplement your diet with a raw food sourced complex or eat a primarily vegetarian diet, your skin will thank you.
RITUAL
Your day should begin with a tall glass of lemon water, deep breathing and stretching. Now your digestion has been kick started, your air has been cleansed, and your muscles are primed for the day's activity.
Cleanse:
Cleansing is your next step. You should be double cleansing with an oil or cream cleanser first, and follow with another gentle cleanser. Your pre-cleanse is an opportunity to soften sebum and debris within the follicles, as well as stimulate circulation and lymph drainage with your massage motions. If you can spare the time, take 5-10 minutes to softly massage your skin in circular motions upward and outward. This will firm and tighten the appearance of your skin and give you a mini face lift. Repeat for greatest results. Make sure to rinse very well with at least 25-50 splashes of water after your second cleanse.
Tone:
Toning works to balance out your skin that may have just been stripped of it's natural oils. Toning will balance your skin's PH, hydrate, and infuse your skin with nutrients. You should tone after cleansing and spritz throughout the day for a boost of moisture and vitamins.
Hydrate:
To prime your skin for the day, hydration is key. A moisturizer, serum or oil should be coupled with H20. We add hyaluronic acid from the Cassia Augustifolia plant to our serums and creams to seal in moisture and insulate your skin from the damaging affects of pollution in the air. If your skin is prone to oiliness, you can skip the oil based cream and opt for a lone serum. If you often have dry skin, you should choose a treatment cream or moisturizer containing natural oils. Under no circumstances should you apply a product to your skin that contains mineral oil. This is one of the most damaging ingredients companies use because it is a cheap filler. Mineral oil clogs pores and ages skin.
Exfoliate:
Once a week you should be exfoliating with a mild exfoliant or using a gentle exfoliant daily. Exfoliation will keep your skin glowing and youthful, encouraging cell turnover and preventing breakouts and wrinkles. Be sure to treat your skin kindly, never over scrubbing or over peeling.
Treat:
No one is too young to start their anti-aging efforts. Today's world is filled with pollution and toxins that are consistently waging war on your skin. Many people are aging prematurely because of the air, water and food supply. It is important that you are infusing your skin with plant botanicals containing vitamins and minerals that will empower your skin's defense mechanism to fight free radical damage and oxidation.
